Agile projects are not necessary less expensive (or quicker to implement) that Waterfall projects
During the early phases of an Agile project that i worked on, every stakeholder that I spoke to, from the project manager, business stakeholders, support manager, etc asked me the same question, 'So this is an Agile project, eh? It should be cheaper/quicker, right?!!'. Well, I am sorry to disappoint you, as I disappointed those people I spoke to then; it is neither about cost nor schedule. Don't get wrong, cost and schedule are important in determining the viability of a project, but being Agile is all about delivering a project that exceeds, if not meets, the customer's expectations. If it costs more or takes longer to get it right, so be it.

Sometime in 2007, I was approached to initiate a project using an Agile Methodology. I decided on Feature Driven Development (FDD) as some of the developers within the organization that I worked in had prior experience working with FDD. It was also deemed to be the most 'non-agile' of the Agile Methodology which made the methodology more 'acceptable' to other parts of the bank.

"There are two kinds of cryptography in this world: Cryptography that will stop your kid sister from reading your files, and cryptography that will stop major governments from reading your files." - Bruce Schneier 1996
The aim of this article is to present a high level introduction to cryptography. This stems from my recent move into Application Security from Application Development. I would be exploring and elaborating on this very topic in future articles.
